BIOSTAT® contains a biotype of Purpureocillium lilacinum, selected for its capacity to control plant pathogenic nematodes, such as: Meloidogyne sp., Radopholus sp., Pratylenchus sp., Tylenchus sp., Ditylenchus sp., Helicotylenchus sp., Rotylenchulus sp. and Xiphinema sp. With respect to the security of the product, P. lilacinum (A.K.A. Paecilomyces lilacinus) is exempt from residue tolerances by the EPA. Furthermore the proprietary strain PL11 has passed ecotoxicological and toxicological TIER I testing.

BIOSTAT® parasitizes all reproductive stages of plant pathogenic nematodes, specially eggs and females, causing deformations, destruction of ovaries and reducing egg fertility. Also, under acid pH conditions, it produces toxins that affect the nematode’s nervous system. BIOSTAT® reduces nematode populations significantly protecting the root system. This “protection” allows the roots to grow freely and promotes the development of a healthy root system. BIOSTAT® also allows the reproduction of beneficial nematodes and phosphorous and nitrogen fixing microorganisms, thus allowing for the absorption of more nutrients by a healthy developed root system, stimulating significant plant growth.

BIOSTAT® contains a minimum spore concentration of 2 x 109 spores per gram with a greater than 85% viability. BIOSTAT® does not require additional coadjuvants and its formulation protects the active ingredient from adverse conditions such as pH 2-13 and hard waters of <150 ppm, and can be stored up to a temperature of 68°F (20°C) with a one year shelf life stability.
